A public garden in Valletta is called Upper Barrakka Garden and is equivalent to the Lower Barrakka Garden. From these gardens you have an unforgettable view of the capital’s Grand Harbour. A port for amazing harbour cruises, for docking Mediterranean cruise ships and from where you can admire Malta’s three cities and shipyards. You can take beautiful photos there. So a must-see during your sightseeing in Malta, and many Malta excursions can take you there!

Presidential Gardens

San Anton Gardens is the garden of the Palace of the President of Malta. This garden is solidly walled and open to the public. You have several walking paths, ponds and rich flora and fauna. Originally the garden was made for the Grand Master Antoine de Paule, but now we are allowed to walk around in it and enjoy its beauty. Guides from guided tours can explain these beautiful gardens to you in detail. Take advantage of them.

The president of Malta also has another palace located more in southern Malta, near the high Dingli Cliffs. This summer palace also has a huge garden. There is an orchard with sweet oranges and lemons. There are beautiful walking paths through dense vegetation, and then suddenly you are in an open picnic field with beautiful views of the palace. It’s full of palm trees! A visit is absolutely worthwhile and should be included in your program.

Palazzo Parisio Gardens

Another gem: Palazzo Parisio Gardens. A beautiful garden built according to Italian tradition. Sicilian gardeners have done their best here, and now Palazzi Parisio Gardens can call itself one of Malta’s celebrated gardens. There is an Orangery created by Vilhena (Grand Master) in 1733 and this space is now used for various festive events. Beautiful lilies and ferns adorn the spaces, and the stone grotto is the watering system for the garden itself.

You can smell the orange blossom and roses. There are Kapok trees and many citrus fruits. Did you know that the garden has an olive grove? Delicious extra virgin olive oil is made from it. Just divine. The hedges in the garden are decorated with dahlias, irises and lilies. It is one splendour.

Independence Gardens

These are located in Sliema, a busy town near Valletta. The gardens offer a place for a relaxing moment. Get away from the hustle and bustle! The gardens are by the water and have nice terraces. You can also enjoy sports or a nice dip in the water. What the gardens are also known for is the large amount of cute stray cats that roam there.

Looking for an oasis of tranquillity with lovely sea views? Want to escape the hustle and bustle of shopping? Then sit in those gardens. Sliema also has a beautiful promenade where you can walk on one side to Valletta and on the other side to St. Julians. A nice walk!
