Yes. Fireworks are common throughout the festa week, often during the day and at night. They can be loud, but this is completely normal in Malta and part of the tradition.
Most festas happen in summer, although fireworks and smaller celebrations occur all year round. The biggest events include Santa Maria in August and Mnarja in June.
No, village festas are free to attend. However, many communities hold BBQ fundraisers during the week leading up to the festa to help cover costs.
