What’s the best month to go to Malta?

If you do not want to melt on the pavement, then avoid visiting Malta in July and August. It’s hot! And the air is like a hairdryer on full blast. Go in the shoulder seasons, which means April to June or September to October. It’s still warm, but your flip-flops won’t stick to the pavement. It’s also less crowded! And cheaper.

How hot is Malta by month?

An overview:
  • Winter (Dec–Feb): Daytime temps hover between 16°C and 21°C. January is the chilliest with around 16°C. Not freezing, but you’ll probably skip the beach dip.
  • Spring (Mar–May): The weather climbs quickly. Expect highs in the low-to-mid 20s by May.
  • Summer (Jun–Aug): It gets serious. From June, it’s already pretty warm. July and August are hot, reaching up to 34°C — sometimes even 40°C when the sirocco wind kicks in.
  • Autumn (Sep–Nov): September and early October are still beach-perfect, around 24–28°C. By November, things cool down a bit, and you might see the first raindrops in months.

What is the climate like in Malta?

Malta is your classic Mediterranean dream — warm, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. Malta is just south of Italy and enjoys about 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. In July, Malta gets 12 hours of sun per day. You may call it paradise. In winter, there is loads of wind but never snow. It’s definitely not beach weather in the winter months — with the occasional exception.

What is the rainy season in Malta?

Rain in summer is nowhere to be found in Malta. Things change by October when the rain begins. November till February sees even more rain, although it’s more like a surprise shower.  You might need a raincoat, but wear light clothes underneath for the sunny periods. Shorts are for the English tourist who thinks that 20 degrees is a hot season — which it’s not, as 20 degrees in winter in Malta can be chilly, especially at night.

What is the temperature in Malta for the next 14 days?

It all depends when you go. In June, for example, you have lots of sunshine and temperatures from 24–30 degrees. Nights are above 20, so very pleasant. Put lightweight clothes in your suitcase and a layer in case the sea breeze kicks in.

What is the warmest month in Malta?

So, July and August take the crown. Temperatures rise over 34 degrees and sometimes hit the 40s. Things can get intense, so avoid the beach between 11:00–15:00. Your feet will burn on the sand — you need serious beach shoes. Such shoes are handy anyway for the sea stars in the water on the rocks.
